Eric Barber
Eric Barber is the owner of Next Generation CrossFit in Tulsa, OK. Having grown up with an active, athletic background, Eric began personal training in 1989 and soon earned numerous training certifications with the American Council of Exercise (ACE). Over the next two decades, Eric has spent most of his work experience as the fitness manager and head trainer of numerous gyms and health clubs as well as working in Psychiatric Hospitals with at-risk youth. After burning-out from two miserable experiences with "Natural Bodybuilding" competitions, Eric fell in love with CrossFit on June 30th, 2006 after a little workout named "Cindy" rocked him to his core. One year later, he opened Next Generation and hasn't done a dumbbell curl since. Eric is currently a certified Level One CrossFit Instructor and holds additional certifications in Gymnastics, Basic Barbell (Powerlifting), Olympic Weightlifting, Kettlebells, Nutrition, and Movement/Mobility.
In 2009, Eric had the time of his life training for, and competing in the "Hell's Half Acre", CrossFit Southwest Regional Qualifiers in Ft Worth, TX. In 2010, Eric and his gym, Next Generation CrossFit, were chosen to host the first official CrossFit Sectional Qualifiers, covering the five surrounding states. In 2011, Eric had the honor of being asked to be the Director the North Central CrossFit Regionals in Chicago, Il.
