I am naming this WOD death by Barber. You'll have me ready for the competition in August in no time...yikes!

This looks like a puker.
Posted by: Denise R | June 12, 2012 at 08:22 PM
Holy moly! Not sure I can get that done in an hour.....
Death by Barber is a good name for this one!

I was hoping you'd post this one Eric. If only my speed rope hadn't gotten stolen out of my car last night... :(
Posted by: Sarah | June 12, 2012 at 08:57 PM
Dang the luck, Sarah! Actually, I have an extra you can borrow...your luck has improved!

I ran 4 miles last night with my kids following me on thier bikes. That is the longest I have ran in 10 years. Thanks to Eric, I am down 36 lbs and feel better than I ever have.
"Thanks Eric"

Nice job Jason, that's kickass!!
41:45 rx'd
The 2nd rd of DU's were incredibly frustrating. The key to this workout is staying relaxed and controlling your breathing.

Ode to Eric:
Almost exactly 1 year ago today I started crossfit. Brett had been going for 1 month and asked me to try it. I was skeptical at first because Brett would tell me about the workouts and I would say “I can’t even do half that, or if I am really honest- "WTF!!!” For the 4 years prior I had put my physical health on the backburner (did absolutely nothing) because I had started a small business and had 2 girls. I agreed to try it for 90 days. I can recall the night before the first class vividly because I did not sleep. I was nervous about walking into a new gym and not knowing anyone and also nervous about looking like a complete idiot because I could not lift a 33lb barbell. The first class was a Wednesday 6:00 a.m. and I parked and walked in and was greeted by Josh and Chad. I did not know, at that time, that the workouts were posted at 8:00 the night before. Chad said “Hey Carey, the workout is 30 Muscle Ups” my response “what’s a muscle up?”. Josh (that days trainer) said not to look at the website and just come which I really appreciated and followed his advice for 90 days. Chad was the only one to show up for that workout so Josh had me do a baseline workout (sorry if I get you in trouble Josh) which I did all the while awing at Chad and his strength. My first day jitters were over but I had no idea what to expect. The 2nd work out was similar to todays- lots of running. One year ago I could not run a mile! I remember trying to finish the work out and John Bunn and Eric joined me during their 7:00 a.m. workout warm up and encouraged me to finish. I left feeling like I had support and was hooked. Each trainer (DUBS/ERIC you fixed my squat) and member are really special to me because there has never been judgment, only words of encouragement and occasionally correcting my bad form or technique. At some point Eric, I will not round my back any more! Eric – thank you for all you have done for me over the past year. I have shed 13 lbs and am at pre-baby weight and have lost 10% body fat. AND, I can now run a mile. I’ll be turning 40 soon and I feel better than I did in my 20’s.
Today’s WOD 40:55 scaled with 500-300-200 single unders (I will master the double under in my 2nd year of crossfit)

What the???
Why all the love lately? I'm used to everybody hating my guts!
Seriously, thank you, but you guys are the ones doing all the hard work. It's all of you that deserve any credit. I'm just good at yelling and bossing people around.
Today's WOD 29:50
PS - Jason, 4 miles is no joke man! Great job!

BAD NEWS: It took me 55:16 to do today's WOD
GOOD NEWS: It didn't take me an hour.
BAD NEWS: I felt like I was going to die during this workout.
GOOD NEWS: I didn't die.
BAD NEWS: I wanted to quit or at least modify the workout after the first "round"
GOOD NEWS: I didn't do either
BAD NEWS: I did probably half of all my DU's one at a time (I couldn't string them together)
GOOD NEWS: I did 300 DU's in one workout.
BAD NEWS: Apparently I am not smart enough to modify a workout when it would be prudent to do so.
GOOD NEWS: I have a sense of accomplishment after getting this one done.
Great job, 6:00 pm class. Nice to have Carol from Florida join us for this insane WOD! Thanks to those who stayed to cheer me on to my moral victory. Extra thanks to Coach Eric who did my last 20 burpees along side me (all the while I was wishing he could just do them FOR me!) CURSE YOU, DOUBLE UNDERS!!! ONE DAY I WILL CONQUER YOU!!!!!!!

DNF
At 46:32 I finished the 35 burpees and threw in the towel. This is a WOD where you need to turn your mind off and just finish. My mind was stuck on last week.
I quit but I am not a quitter. I gave what I had today and that's all I could do.
Posted by: Stacy W | June 13, 2012 at 09:11 PM
Stacy....you are clearly not a quitter. I have been watching your times get better and your reps go higher over the past few months. Honestly, I was right there with ya today. This one just almost got the best of me. No shame in working hard for 46:32, and living to fight another day. You are awesome...
Posted by: Marcy | June 13, 2012 at 09:40 PM
Great work Stacy. You are not a quitter. Some days are just better than others. Using good judgement is a smart thing :)

Congrats on a great year Carey! Another great year to come!

39:40 rx'd.
Stacy, you did great today. Crossfit workouts are as much about the mental as they are the physical. Sometimes you just can't turn your mind off but that doesn't make you a quitter.
Posted by: Bradpd | June 13, 2012 at 11:48 PM
Hey Nexgen! You all are awesome! I love to be a part of your "WOD journey" as I read through your comments & stories. Eric, I'm so proud of you.
Marcy, you inspire me to quit my whining & just get in the gym. Sarah, can I nick name you JB (aka Jason Bourne)?
Carey, still looking forward to training with you in the same hour! You are amazing! The spirit of Nexgen is infectious!!!!
